CLEAL & MITCHELL WIN AT MANSELL IN 2 COUNTIES CLUB CHAMPS – ROUND 3

Following a 3 month lay-off, the 2 Counties Club Championship programme got underway again, now with the inclusion of a Junior Blue grid, still in its infancy. Sam Mitchell won the Junior Blue class from pole, asserting his authority on the grid. second on the day was Rhys Read with Jamie Dart 3rd. The Championship table now has Mitchell in the lead followed by Read, with Dart and Josh Hibbard in equal 3rd position.
In the Formula Blue class Anthony Cleal continues with his winning ways, but not without absolute competition. Sylvan Vessier swapped the lead with him and finished a mere 0.25 seconds behind. Russell O’Neill made up the pressure group in 3rd place, a mere 0.27 seconds behind, but taking fastest lap in the process. In the Championship Cleal increases his lead by a few points from Russell O’Neill with Mike Bell in 3rd spot. the next 2 places are made up of Serita Shone and Vessier.
Cleal also won the Blue Master sub-grid from O’Neill. 3rd on the day was Paul Alexander. these 3 also, coincidentally, make up the top 3 in the Club Championship, followed by David Goode and Steve Groves.
The Blue Veteran section was also won by Cleal, though it was Alexander and Nigel Vickery who followed him home. In the Championship table, Cleal leads from Alexander, Goode, Groves and Kevin O’Neill.
In the last of the age category sub-classes, it was Goode who won from O’Neill with Ron Shone 3rd. In the overall standings, it is now Goode from O’Neill then Shone, Stoddart-Stones and Hartshorne.
Ron Shone turned the Top weight group around courtesy of his win from Rob Mortimore and Mark Cook. Shone now leads the table, from Mortimore, Billy Thomas, Cook and Shears.
The class now concentrates on the NKRA Grande Finals at the Clay Pigeon Raceway on October 10th before returning to Mansell for the penultimate Club round on October 31st.
