CLEAL WINS THE ‘PERCY’

After an average year  ( by his standards),  Anthony Cleal wins the final major trophy of 2017.  The Matthew Percy Memorial Trophy,  for Formula Blue,  is without doubt,  the Two Counties Club’s most prestigious event and probably the ‘biggest’ Formula Blue event,  second only to the NKRA Grande Finals. This trophy race was held at the Clay Pigeon Circuit and the race attracted drivers from afar afield as Scotland and Switzerland.
The Trophy, which has been competed for since 1991, has a list of illustrious ‘Winners’ names attached.  Anth Cleal has now added his name to the list ! With grid positions of 2nd and Finish place 3rd,  he scored 5 points, winning him the Cup.  As the grid assembled for the Final, Jake Calvert sat on Pole position and was favorite for the overall result. Along side sat Anth Clean, with Martin Wheeler and Taylor Waldron on Row 2.  During the race Calvert visited the pits, putting him out of contention.  That immediately changed the complexion of the race to the degree that any one of four drivers could now win the overall title.  In the end, it was Cleal who claimed the Percy Trophy. Behind,  three drivers shared 7 points and were separated in the results by virtue of track position.  As such Mitch McLeod came runner-up, with Duncan McLeod  3rd and Martin Wheeler 4th.  the Swiss entrant Keith Wilson finished the day with 11 points with a creditable 5th position overall.
