06.05.24All the front runners were in attendance for Round 4 of the NKRA Regional Champs, held at Lydd race circuit in Kent on May 5th.
A bad day at the ‘office’ for the serie’s leaders Anthony Cleal and James Dawkins meant that they lost the lead they had shared going into this round. Cleal suffered a pedal breakage and Dawkins couldn’t continue with bruised ribs. Joey Foster won the day with Zero points, with Harry Smithson 2nd on four points. Third place was shared by three racers, though Richard Puddle takes third place on a count-back, followed by Stuart Gray and Max Gunter. This now means that Foster leads the Regionals with seven points from Smithson on ten points, Cleal stays in touch in 3rd overall on sixteen points from Stuart Gray, also on points and Callum Jobson on 18 points.
In the Master sub-class, Foster again won the day on Zero points with four drivers coming in on nine points. it is Puddle who, on count-back, takes second from Gray, in third. Max Gunter claiming fourth with Alex Kemp in fifth, all on count-backs. It is Foster who takes the overall lead with Gray in second place. Cleal is only one point behind in third series place, with Puddle in fourth and Dawkins in fifth.
It is Gray, on two points, who wins the Veteran group, from Steve Groves in secontd. Cleal finished third on five points. Behind them, Dave Waldron pips Rob Mortimore by virtue of count-back, both scoring ten points each. This means that Gray takes the lead in the Series from Cleal, Groves, Mortimore and Waldron.
In the Legend sub-group, Gray takes a clean sweep of points with Ron Shone in second and Graham Joseph in third. In the overall scores, Gray sits firmly at the front on zero points followed by Shone on eight points and Joseph on twelve points. Robin Stoddart-Stones takes up fourth place from David Goode in fifth.
After round three Alex Fortune and Mortimore shared first spot in the Top Weight sub-section but it was Fortune who claimed the win at Lydd on zero points, with Stuart Adam and Rob Mortimore in second and third. Paul Alexander beat Shone into fourth overall. It is now Fortune who leads from Mortimore, Adam, Shone and Alexander.
The Junior Blues continue to match each other, sharing points both on the day and in the overall score. Jacob Felton and Alfie Lenton scored two points each but Felton won on count back. They also match each other in the Championship, both with four drop option points.
In the Cadet Honda class Devon Giles continues unopposed.
Round five of the NKRA Regionals takes place at the Dunkeswell Race Circuit, in Devon, at the end of May (26th), Drivers are reminded to ensure that their entries are in on time! Two drivers recently fell foul of the requirement to enter no later than Saturday, the week before the race meeting, consequently their late entries meant they started all three heats on the back of the grid!
