TABOR ENGINEERING SPRING CLOSURE DATES
06.04.23TABOR KARTING has advised that their engine department will be closed from Wednesday 12th April until Tuesday 25th April. Drivers requiring engine re-builds etc. will need to present their engines prior to 12th April in order to ensure that the work can be undertaken by the NKRA round 4 at Mansell Raceway. The Tabor parts department will remain open to send out spare parts, etc. until Monday 17th April and they will also open on 25th April.
Drivers have the option to hand their engines to TABOR at the Lydd race meeting, following the conclusion of the ‘o’ plate championships.
NKRA CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 2 AT MANSELL
30.03.23Devon Giles continues in the lead of the Cadet Hondas with a clean sweep result.
Alfie Lenton, much improved since Lydd, also achieved a minimum score and remains firmly in control
In the Formula BLUE class, David Watts showed a clean pair of heels to the chasing pack, scoring zero points. Second on the day was Stuart Gray, just edging Anthony Cleal, by virtue of his Final finish position, as both had scored 5 points. Kevin Ford returning after a shoulder operation, claimed 4th overall with David Waldron taking 5th. In the series’ standings, Smithson and Watts share the lead with Cleal in 3rd, Tom Parker in 4th and Stuart Gray in 5th.
Gray and Cleal shared the top points in the Master section, with Ford finishing 3rd, Waldron 4th and Nigel Vickery sharing 5th with Steve Groves. Overall it is Cleal in the lead, by virtue of a better drop option, from Joey Foster. Gray takes up 3rd place from Waldron with Vickery in 5th.
In the veteran sub-group, it is Gray and Cleal who, once again, share the win on the day with 2 points each with Ford finishing 3rd, Waldron 4th and Groves 5th.
Gray takes the Legend win with a zero-points clean sweep. Behind him was Ford, followed by John Hartshorne, Chris Underhill and David Goode.
In the Top Weight section, Waldron maximised his efforts on the day by winning from Rob Mortimore, Tom Parker and Ron shone. Waldron also takes the Championship lead in this section, with Parker 2nd, Mortimore 3rd and Ron shone 4th.
In a hectic start to the Championship, the drivers have a mere two weeks before they head back to the Lydd International circuit for round three. This event will be spiced up by the addition of a combined ‘0’ plate event for the Formula BLUE sections of the class.
TYRES & SPARES FOR LYDD ON THE 7th, 8th & 9th OF APRIL
29.03.23Tabor Karting will be in attendance, with limited spares, at the Lydd International Raceway on the 7th, 8th & 9th of April for the 3rd Round of the NKRA 2023 Championship which includes the O plate competition for Junior BLUE and Formula BLUE.

ENTRIES FOR MANSELL ON APRIL 30th
28.03.23Competitors are advised that entries are now open for the 4th Round of the NKRA Championship at Mansell Raceway on 30th April. There will be practice for those who wish, on Saturday 29th April.
The Saturday practice and the Sunday race can be entered on the Mansell Kart Club website link. The link for entries is also at the foot of this news brief.
The entry list for Junior & Formula Blue will close at midnight, on Saturday 22nd April. Late entries may be accepted, however, they will be placed on the back of the grid for all heats.

REMINDER TO JUNIOR & FORMULA BLUE RACERS IN THE IKR BLUE CHALLENGE CHAMPIONSHIP.
23.03.23Regarding the NKRA IKR BLUE CHALLENGE CHAMPIONSHIP, drivers are reminded of the Additional Supplementary Regulation 2. ( view planetkarting.uk website, then NKRA Clubman Championship menu, then NKRA ASR’s 2023 menu).
BLUE Scrutineering cards will available from Julie Shone (Comp. Sec.) at the TABOR trade support trailer at the race meetings. For your information, there is a demonstration copy of the card below.

For ease, it is recommended that ‘BLUE’ drivers keep a log book for each engine they use to ensure speedy and unproblematic completion of each form on race day.
Drivers are further reminded that it is their responsibility to hand the completed form/forms to the scrutineer on Sunday morning before racing commences.

ENTRIES NOW OPEN FOR LYDD ON 9th APRIL
14.03.23Competitors are advised that entries are now open for the NKRA( IKR) Championship & BLUE CHALLENGE ROUND 1, ( which includes the Junior & Formula blue 0 Plate) on Sunday 9th April, at the LYDD INTERNATIONAL KART CIRCUIT.
Practice is available on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th of April. The Sunday race is entered for on the LYDD web link. (The link for entries is also at the foot of this news brief). Friday & / or Saturday practice can be entered for on the day at the circuit. The entry list for Formula Blue & Junior Blue will close at midnight, on Saturday 1st April. Late entries (up to a grid maximum of 30) may be accepted, however, if accepted, they will be placed at the back of the grid for all heats.

RESULTS – NKRA BLUE CHALLENGE ROUND 1 AT LYDD
13.03.23Smithson sees off the opposition and the Woldingham ‘Wonders’ win the team pairing.
Harry Smithson dominated the opening round of the 2023 NKRA Blue Challenge. Having secured pole position in the Final, he was only troubled in the opening lap. From there on in he strode off into the distance to secure an impressive 0 points victory. 2nd overall was Tom Parker on 5 points, with an opposite pole to a 3rd place finish.
On 6 points, Joey Foster ended up 3rd on the day with a 4th place start and 2nd spot finish at the chequered flag. New boy, Scott Lay, laid down his marker for the Championship with 5th and 4th place, scoring 9 points. Also, on 9 points was Anthony Cleal, last year’s winner. Dave Waldron Finished 7th overall not far behind Lay, putting Woldingham town on the map in the process.
Foster and Cleal share the lead in the Master section on 2 points a piece. Waldron and Nigel Vickery sit in equal 3rd spot with 7 points each. Alex Kemp, from Cornwall, ends up only 3 points behind on 10 points.
The Veteran sub-class has Cleal a clear leader from Waldron, Vickery and Rob Mortimore.
Kevin O’Neill re-asserts his authority in the Blue Legend group from John Hartshorne and Ron Shone.
The Top Weight Sub-class ends round 1 with Parker in a clear lead of 0 points, from Waldron on 4 points, Mortimore on 6 points and Shone on 8 points.
Devon Giles starts his Cadet Honda campaign with 0 points, Alfie Lenton in the Junior Blue class starts with 2 points.
The Racers now have 2 weeks to recover before round 2 at the Mansell Raceway in Devon on March 26th.
