NKRA SENIOR FORMULA BLUE REGISTRATION TO BE CAPPED FOR 2022

Posted on by Julie

As a direct consequence of the inclusion of the Junior Blue Class into the NKRA and Blue Challenge Championships, the numbers competing in the Formula BLUE Class will need to be regulated. The Championship is held within regular club race meetings and an extra load is then put on to the host club’s organisation. There has been a continued upsurge of interest in the 2022 Blue Challenge, as such and taking into account the potential extra 4 races needed for Junior Blue and the 2021 registration number of 34 drivers, an extra heat and B final for Formula BLUE, if it becomes necessary, could create an overload in the host club’s race schedule.
Therefore, the NKRA will implement a cap of 30 accepted registrations. If and when the cap is reached a reserve list will be compiled. Should the entry list at any round not reach the capped number, then competitors from the reserve list may be invited to race.

£1,500 – Prize Awards Results 2021

Posted on by Julie

Following the conclusion of the last scoring round of the 2021 Tabor championships, the prize fund awards are now finalised.
Despite a disastrous final race day, Russell O’Neill’s year has been of the highest order, which witnessed him achieving not only No.2 , but also £500 in the Tabor Championship. Anth Cleal finished 2nd on the day. His disaster occurred at the first race, but he steadily clawed his way back during the season to win £ 400, to go with his No. 1 plate. Ever steady David Goode, was never out of the points and consequently finished the year with No. 7 and £ 300 in the Tabor prizes. Serita Shone hung on to 4th place by the narrowest of margins. Suffering from potential long Covid problems, she had to miss the last few rounds. Never the less she had enough points in the ‘bag’ to hang on to 4th by 1 point from Mike Bell, who takes home £ 100.
The prize fund presentation takes place at the NKRA and 2 Counties presentation evening on November 27th, which will bring the 2021 racing season to a close.

2 COUNTIES 2021 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP CONCLUSION

Posted on by Julie

Following a fraught year in which Coronavirus cancelled the opening round, the 2 Counties Club managed to complete their fixture list at Clay Pigeon Raceway on November 14th.
New boy, Sam Mitchell, continued in his winning ways by taking the Junior Blue class, from Pole position, along with the Junior Matthew Percy Memorial Trophy. Behind, Rhys Read and Josh Hibbard had a real ding dong of a Final with them changing positions frequently. In the end, it was Read who closed down 2nd place at the chequered flag. In the 2 Counties Club Championship, it is Mitchell who claims the title from Read, with Josh Hibbard in 3rd overall. Ultra ‘new-boy’ Jamie Bradfield gave advance notice for next year, by finishing 4th and posting the 2nd fastest lap.
In the senior Blue class, Anth Cleal won the Final and thereby retained the original Matt Percy trophy. David Watts was the main challenger throughout the day, ahead of Sylvain Vessier and Martin Wheeler, both of whom had transferred from Rotax Max during the year. Mike Bell, with a grid start of 3rd and a final finish of 5th ended up 3rd overall on the day. In the Club Championship, Cleal reinforced his lead going into the last round and emerged as the Champion. A bad day, by his own standards, meant that Russell O’Neill slipped from 2nd to 4th in the Championship, being passed by Bell and Vessier. A solid performance from Keiron Quirke allowed him to finish 5th overall.
Cleal also dominated in the Blue Master group with 0 points, followed by Billy Thomas on 5 points and Steven Groves on 8 points. In the Championship Cleal wins the year, from O’Neill and Paul Alexander.
The Blue Veteran sub-section was again won by Cleal, though it was Groves who finished 2nd in this group, followed by Paul Alexander. In the Championship, Cleal takes the title from Alexander and David Goode.
The Blue Legend sub-class was won by Goode from Stuard Gray. It is Goode who also wins the Championship, with Ron Shone and Robin Stoddart- Stones 2nd and 3rd separated by only 1 point.
Billy Thomas won the Blue Top Weight section, with a lights to flag win, from Ron Shone and Phil Shears. The absence of Rob Mortimore handed the Club Championship to Shone, with Shears scraping in to take the runner-up spot.
With the actual racing season now over, the last event of the year is the Presentation Dinner and Dance, on Saturday 27th of November. The formal dress code evening is a sell-out with no tickets left, it will no doubt be one to remember!
