Dear competitor, Friends and Family,
Over the past year, the Coronavirus has prevented the end of season presentation from taking place. The trophies were, however, presented at race meetings as and when appropriate. Although effective, this did not allow the drivers involved an end of year spectacular, to which they were previously accustomed.
GOOD NEWS! This magnificent event is back on the calendar once again, with the NKRA taking up the helm of organisation for 2021.
Throughout the past 18 months a ‘guess the bonus ball’ competition at Championship rounds has been organised on behalf of the NKRA, by Shelley Alexander. With all proceeds going towards offsetting the entertainment costs at the presentation evening.
This year the Trophy Presentation & Dinner Dance Ball will take place on November 27th, at the ROYAL HOTEL, WEYMOUTH. The policy always was, and this year will be again, to present to the racers and their family and friends an occasion worthy of their annual achievements.
The dress code will be formal, Dinner Jacket & bow tie for the men, and evening/cocktail wear for the ladies. For the youths a shirt and bow tie is adequate. After a year of race suits and mechanics overalls, it will be nice to see everyone dressed for the occasion.
Tickets for the Ball will be £35 for adults and £20 for Juniors 11 – 16 years. Children under the age of 11 years – £ 15. The prices, as already stated, are substantially subsidised and include.
Hire of the Venue
3 Course dinner ( choice of menu)
Coffee or tea and mints
Bottles of red and white wine on tables
Live Band
Entertainment
Prizes
Bar until late
With the uncertainties of reinstating this event, the planning provides for a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 80 people attending. After this there will not be any extra places, so please get your tickets early. Tickets are available to purchase with immediate effect with payment by cheque or cash. ( Cheques made out to N.K.R.A. ) They are also available to purchase at any of the forthcoming NKRA / Blue Challenge and Two Counties Club Championships rounds.
See Julie Shone at the circuit or Tel. 01305 774074
The menu choices will be forwarded for you to choose nearer the time.
To ensure that racing competitors are not closed out, every driver listed in either the NKRA and 2 Counties results list will be able to secure up to 3 tickets ( including themselves) if purchased by August 28th, after that ticket sales are open to all.
PLEASE NOTE THAT TICKETS/ PLACES ARE NOT ALLOCATED UNTIL PAYMENT HAS BEEN RECEIVED.
Limited accommodation is available at The Royal Hotel, where the event is being held. When booking, please phone the Hotel ( direct 01305 782777) and speak to Emma in reception, she is there most days up until 2 pm. Mention the NKRA / Two Counties event to get the concession rate on rooms, which is £ 70 for up to 2 persons in a double or twin room with breakfast included.
As usual there will be a raffle during the evening, if anyone wishes to donate to this, please contact Serita Shone.
Finally, drivers who have already won annual NKRA or TABOR Trophies in 2020, are requested to return them to Ron Shone. The 2 Counties annual trophies should be returned to Shelley Alexander. This will allow for the engraving of the names of the new winners, in time for the presentation aspect of the evening. These trophies can be handed over at any race meeting after the NKRA Grande Finals.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Best wishes
Serita Shone

FORMULA BLUE, THE LARGEST GRID OF THE DAY AT CLAY PIGEON, WHERE JOSEPH THE WELSH WIZZARD WINS THE FINAL, BUT COOL CLEAL CLAIMS THE OVERALL!
12.07.21For the second round in succession, the BLUE Challenge had to endure near torrential rain, and also for the second time in succession Welshman, Ben Joseph dominated in the Final. Having dropped a heat, earlier in the day, Joseph had qualified 14th on the grid. From this mid-order start position, he systematically cut through the grid until lap 9 when he passed Anthony Cleal, the current number 1, for the lead. This time around, with his father as a mechanic, to ensure that fuel was in the tank, he maintained and even increased his lead to the flag! Cleal, for his part, opened up an 8 second lead over 3rd placed man, Russell O’Neill. Behind him, Mike Bell and Sylvian Vessier finished 4th and 5th. Once the start grid was added to the finish position, Cleal won the day with 2 points from Russell O’Neill on 5 points and Mike Bell on 8 points. Overall in the Championship, David Watts maintains his lead from Cleal. The absence of Richard Puddle allowed Mike Bell and Russell O’Neill to move up into 3rd and 4th spots. Despite being left on the start grid with an oiled plug, Serita Shone managed to start and scored enough points to move up to 5th overall.
It was a similar situation in the Master section where Joseph won the Final but Cleal took the day’s result. 2nd with 5 points was Russell O’Neill with Joseph 3rd on 9 points. Right behind was David Waldron on 10 points with David Goode and Chris Underhill 5th equal on 12 points. In the Championship Cleal remains in front, followed by Russell O’Neill, Joseph, David Waldron, and David Goode.
A clean sweep by Anthony Cleal in the Veteran sub-group gave him the Final win, the day’s result, and an increased lead in the Championship. 2nd equal on the day was David Waldron and Chris Underhill on 9 points. Paul Alexander came in 5th with 11 points.
Chris underhill won the Legend group from David Goode. Robin Stoddart-Stones finished 3rd with Mike Watts 4th and Kevin O’Neill 5th. It is, however, David Goode who increases his lead in the Championship followed by Kevin O’Neill, Ron Shone, Chris Underhill and Robin Stoddart-Stones.
In the BLUE Top Weight section, Ben Joseph took the day on 2 points with Rob Mortimore 2nd, Mike Watts 3rd and Ron shone 4th. Joseph also extended his Championship lead from Mortimore, Shone, Paul Dible and Billy Thomas.
In the Junior BLUE Class, Mitch Carpenter won the Final but shared the days’ points with Sam Mitchell. Behind these two, Rhys Read and Jamie Dart scored 7 points each. Madi Staddon, lead for several laps of the Final, before finding a ‘wetter than the rest’ patch and spinning off, takes up equal 5th place with Josh Hibbard.
The Championship now moves on to the Forest Edge Circuit on the 1st of August.

O’Neill sets his sights on £500
12.07.21Russell O’Neill scored maximum points in the TABOR Champs in the rain-sodden Final at Clay Pigeon Raceway on 11th July.
His main rival, Serita Shone, raced on a few laps adrift having oiled a plug on the dummy grid prior to the race start. 3rd was a rejuvenated David Goode along with Ben Joseph, who gave a stunning performance and display of racing in the rain. There was disappointment for Rob Mortimore who ‘threw’ a chain with 4 laps to go whilst in 4th place.
The Championship now moves on to the Forest Edge Circuit on August 1st.
