SAM MITCHELL & ANTHONY CLEAL WIN THE PENULTIMATE BLUE CHALLENGE ROUND AT MANSELL.

Posted on by Julie

Sam Mitchell won, in dominant style, the Junior Blue Challenge round 7 at Mansell Raceway, on August 29th, with a Pole to Flag 0 points win. Rhys Read with 4 points finished 2nd and Josh Hibbard was 3rd on 6 points. With one round to go Mitchell now has an 11 points lead over Read with Jamie Dart in 3rd place overall.
Anthony Cleal in formula Blue also won with 0 points. 2nd was Ben Joseph on 5 points with another Welsh competitor Billy Thomas in 3rd, scoring 7 points. Several of the top half of the competition were unable to race due to recovering from minor surgery (non-karting related !). Sadly for Syvain Vessier, he had tested positive for Coronavirus in the week before and was unable to compete, we all wish Sylvain a full and speedy recovery. Front runners David Watts, Sam Dible and Rich Puddle did not enter and as a consequence have slid down the overall positions in the Championship.
Going into the Final round, Cleal has an unassailable lead ( attendance and exclusion permitting). Mike Bell has moved up into 2nd place followed by Russell O’Neill, Joseph and Serita shone.
In the Blue Master sub-section, Cleal takes the win on the day with zero points, Joseph was 2nd with 5 points. Russell O’Neill and Thomas claim equal 3rd spot with 7 points. In the standing, it is Cleal from O’Neill, Joseph, David Goode and Rob Mortimore.
Cleal, again, takes a zero point win in the Blue Veteran sub-class. Kevin O’Neill takes 2nd place on 5 points with Paul Alexander and David Waldron sharing 3rd spot with 9 points. David Goode came in 5th, 1 point behind.
Overall, Cleal remains in the lead followed by Goode, Alexander, Mortimore and David Waldron.
Kevin O’Neill was in stunning form in the Blue Legend group with a clear pole-to-flag win. 2nd place went to Goode on 4 points followed by Ron Shone on 6 points and Mark cook on 8 points. In the overall standings, Goode holds the lead by 7 points from O’Neill. Shone stays in 3rd place, 13 points adrift.
In the Blue Top Weight sub-class, Joseph won with Zero points followed by Thomas on 4 points. Mortimore and Shone finished equal 3rd on 7 points. It is Joseph who sits in the overall lead in the championship with Mortimore in 2nd position. Ron Shone remains in 3rd with Thomas and Paul Dible making up the top 5.
The Blue Challenge now moves on to Forest Edge for the Final Round of the Championship, at the Forest Edge Circuit, on September 5th. Pressure is on with only a 7 day, back-to-back, turnaround timetable. An added bit of pressure is the knowledge that there is a 100 point non-droppable penalty for non-attendance at this last round of the Championship.

BLUE CHALLENGE RESULTS AFTER FOREST EDGE IN AUGUST

Posted on by Julie

A clean pair of heels by Rhys Read gave him minimum points and the win in the Junior Blue sections of the Blue Challenge 2021. Mitch Carpenter suffered an exclusion for a carburettor rule infringement which dropped him down to 6th place overall. The Challenge lead stays with Sam Mitchell though Read has closed him down. Jamie Dart is promoted to 3rd overall.
Richard Puddle won the Formula Blue class but fell foul of a battery terminal issue at the post-race scrutineering and was duly excluded. Anth Cleal with an opposite pole start grid, together with a race win, won the day. Sam Dible with a pole and 2nd in the Final finished 2nd overall followed by Ben Joseph in 3rd. David Watts on 10 points came in 4th with Sylvain Vessier in 5th. Cleal now takes the Challenge lead by 1 point over David Watts. Mike Bell sits in 3rd place with Russell O’Neill and Ben Joseph bringing up the top 5.
Cleal with 0 + 0 points score takes the win the Master sub-class from Ben Joseph who scored 5 points. Billy Thomas finished 3rd overall on 7 points. 4th was Russell O’Neill who shared the points with Robin Stoddart-Stones. Cleal increases his Challenge lead over O’Neill. Joseph stays in 3rd but David Goode snatches 4th pace from Rob Mortimore by 1 point.
Cleal, again, takes the win in the Veteran Sub-class. This time the challenge came from Stoddart-Stones in 2nd. Phil Shears shared the points with Paul Dible but took 3rd place by virtue of a higher track position. Paul Alexander finished 5th. In the overall standings, Cleal maintains his lead with Goode in 2nd. Mortimore is in 3rd just 1 point ahead of Paul Alexander 4th and David Waldron 5th.
In the Blue Legend section, Stoddart-Stones takes the win following the withdrawal of Stuart Gray with a ‘lost ‘ chain guard. Goode comes in 2nd with John Hartshorne in 3rd. Goode remains in the overall lead from Kevin O’Neill, Ron Shone, Stoddart-Stones and Chris Underhill.
Ben Joseph was dominant in the Blue Top Weight group with a grid to flag win. Second was team-mate Billy Thomas, followed by Phil Shears and Paul Dible. It is Joseph in the overall lead, chased by Rob Mortimore and Ron Shone, Thomas overtakes Paul Dible for 4th spot.

THE NATIONAL KART RACING ASSOCIATION AND 2 COUNTIES KART CLUB Annual Trophy Presentation and Dinner Dance.

Posted on by Julie

SATURDAY 27th NOVEMBER 2021 – AT THE ROYAL HOTEL, THE ESPLANADE, WEYMOUTH.

The Hotel is situated directly on Weymouth Seafront, between the clock tower and the King George statue, with parking spaces directly behind the hotel.  Here, there are 2 disabled bays, plus a limited number of standard bays on a first come basis.  Parking is free from 6 pm to 8 am, with pre-purchased hours available at either end of the overnight option.   There is also the option of ‘free’ parking on any of the side streets nearby.

Dear competitor, Friends and Family,

Over the past year, the Coronavirus has prevented the end of season presentation from taking place.  The trophies were, however, presented at race meetings as and when appropriate.  Although effective, this did not allow the drivers involved an end of year spectacular, to which they were previously accustomed.

GOOD NEWS! This magnificent event is back on the calendar once again, with the NKRA taking up the helm of organisation for 2021.

Throughout the past 18 months a ‘guess the bonus ball’ competition at  Championship rounds has been organised on behalf of the NKRA,  by Shelley Alexander.   With all proceeds going towards offsetting the entertainment costs at the presentation evening.

This year the Trophy Presentation & Dinner Dance Ball will take place on November 27th, at the ROYAL HOTEL, WEYMOUTH.  The policy always was, and this year will be again, to present to the racers and their family and friends an occasion worthy of their annual achievements.

The dress code will be formal, Dinner Jacket & bow tie for the men, and evening/cocktail wear for the ladies. For the youths a shirt and bow tie is adequate.  After a year of race suits and mechanics overalls, it will be nice to see everyone dressed for the occasion.

Tickets for the Ball will be £35 for adults and £20 for Juniors 11 – 16 years.  Children under the age of 11 years – £ 15.   The prices,  as already stated,  are substantially subsidised and include.

Hire of the Venue
3 Course dinner ( choice of menu)
Coffee or tea and mints
Bottles of red and white wine on tables
Live Band
Entertainment
Prizes
Bar until late

With the uncertainties of reinstating this event, the planning provides for a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 80 people attending.  After this there will not be any extra places, so please get your tickets early.  Tickets are available to purchase with immediate effect with payment by cheque or cash. ( Cheques made out to N.K.R.A. )  They are also available to purchase at any of the forthcoming  NKRA / Blue Challenge and  Two Counties Club Championships rounds.
See Julie Shone at the circuit  or Tel.  01305 774074
The menu choices will be forwarded for you to choose nearer the time.

To ensure that racing competitors are not closed out, every driver listed in either the NKRA and 2 Counties results list will be able to secure up to 3 tickets ( including themselves) if purchased by August 28th, after that ticket sales are open to all.
PLEASE NOTE THAT TICKETS/ PLACES ARE NOT ALLOCATED UNTIL PAYMENT HAS BEEN RECEIVED.

Limited accommodation is available at The Royal Hotel, where the event is being held. When booking, please phone the Hotel ( direct  01305 782777)  and speak to Emma in reception, she is there most days up until 2 pm.  Mention the NKRA / Two Counties event to get the concession rate on rooms, which is  £ 70 for up to 2 persons in a double or twin room with breakfast included.

As usual there will be a raffle during the evening, if anyone wishes to donate to this, please contact Serita Shone.

Finally, drivers who have already won annual NKRA or TABOR Trophies in 2020, are requested to return them to Ron Shone.  The 2 Counties annual trophies should be returned to Shelley Alexander.  This will allow for the engraving of the names of the new winners, in time for the presentation aspect of the evening. These trophies can be handed over at any race meeting after the NKRA Grande Finals.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes

Serita Shone
(NKRA Social Sec)
