NKRA 2019 GRANDE FINAL RESULTS
01.09.19After a fantastic Grande Final weekend at Forest Edge circuit on September 1st, a new list of winners is revealed.
With four heats to decide the grid positions, many of the ‘front’ runners, who had succumbed to a gremlin or incident in one of their heats, found that the consistent drivers were positioned well forward on the grid for the Final. Mitchell McLeod sat on Pole position with David Watts alongside. On row 2 were Anthony Cleal and Toby Cook, with Taylor Waldron and Stuart Gray behind. The 4th row was occupied by Serita Shone and David Waldron.
In the Final , (race report to follow soon ) the five fastest drivers all achieved quicker than 44.2 second lap times, namely D. Watts, A. Cleal,
T. Waldron, M. Bell, and S. Gray. 4 Blue top engines ( Lynx) and 1 Green Top ( Maxi) were used.
In the race, David Watts had taken a lead by lap 2. A position which he would not lose. A lap later Cleal was up into 2nd place but was unable to close on the small gap that Watts had established. Taylor Waldron reached 3rd spot on lap seven. These three remained unchallenged to the flag.
Once the points were totalled. David Watts emerged as the NKRA Champion with Anthony Cleal, last year’s winner, in the runner-up spot. 3rd and 4th were Taylor Waldron and Toby Cook.
All drivers finished the Final with only 23 seconds separating first at the chequered flag. With driver weights ranging from 60kg to 100kg, it was a testament to how close the racing was and how the rules and regulations work to ensure fair and equal competition without equipment stress and failures.

NKRA GRANDE FINAL 2019 – AASR’S – Formula BLUE Class
21.08.19Additional (2) Supplementary regulations
Several people have bought ‘used’ equipment recently that when checked has been found to be non-compliant with the Formula Blue Regulations.
Attention is drawn to regulation FB1.4 especially to ‘modifications or alterations’, ‘sequential numbered’ and ‘recorded with the Importers (TABOR) prior to racing’.
The Formula Blue rules, along with the Guidelines and Interpretations can be viewed on the www.planetkarting.uk web page, on the Race class info. drop-down menu.
The sequentially numbered parts are: CLUTCH DRUM; CLUTCH; CYLINDER; PISTON; IGNITION (Rotor and Stator; should be the same on each part) and ECU.
To complement post-race scrutineering and to ensure compliance with the requirement for marked and sequential numbering, a Formula Blue specific, additional Scrutineering card will be issued, where the sequentially numbered parts must be listed against the engine(s) in use.
This will be extra to the standard scrutineering card, as supplied by the host club, and must be presented to the scrutineer at the time of pre-race scrutineering. If during the meeting the information becomes incorrect (eg; one changed the clutch) the scrutineers must be informed in writing, e.g: Go see the scrutineer and change the card.)
The cards will be available from Tabor
For Formula Blue competitors, this requirement will have no effect other than an extra minute of clerical attention. It will, however, help to protect them from any competitor who may be considering competing outside of the rules and regulations. FOR MORE INFORMATION CLICK HERE

NKRA FINAL 2019 REGIONAL RESULTS
09.08.19Freddie Baker and Anthony Cleal tie up 2019 NATIONAL KART RACING ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP. Despite not racing at the final round at Forest Edge circuit, Freddie Baker had kept his overall score to a minimum, such that he was still able to take the champs in Cadet Honda.
It was a similar story in the Formula Blue Class where Cleal could not be overtaken barring an unfortunate incident involving his exclusion. The winner in this final round with pole and flag scores was David Watts, this promoted him into 2nd overall behind Cleal. Second, on the day was Taylor Waldron, whose efforts secured him 4th overall. Russell O’Neill finished 3rd and was rewarded with a series 5th place ahead of Toby Cook and Serita Shone in 6th and 7th respectively.
With the Regionals now completed, all attention turns to the NKRA Grande finals, which is set for September 1st at the Forest Edge circuit.
