PEARSON PUTS IT ON THE PODIUM
02.10.18Another fine and dry race weekend presented itself for round 3 of the Two Counties Club Championship at Mansell Raceway on 30th September.
In Formula Blue 2 drivers excelled on the day, Anthony Cleal, the newly crowned Champion for 2018 / 19 and Ben Peason shared the points on the day. The overall win went to Pearson by virture of his Final win. Cleal gained pole after Pearson snapped a throttle spindle in Heat 1. It was Cleal’s turn to suffer a problem in the Final when a fuel cap unwound. He still raced on however, to hang on to second spot. David Watts, the ‘new boy’, in the class had a good day qualifying 6th on the grid. His Final was spent swapping the 3rd position with Serita Shone, though it was Watts who held his nerve to the flag taking 3rd spot, with Serita Shone in 4th. The last trophy was claimed by Robin Stoddart-Stones enjoying a welcome return to form.
In the Blue Master and Veteran sections , Cleal has reinforced his position at the front increasing his lead over Duncan McLeod and Robin Stoddart-Stones.
It is Stoddart-Stones, however, who shoots into the lead in the Legend sub-group, Ron Shone and David Goode being displaced in the process.
Duncan McLeod, by virtue of his drop option, maintains his lead in the Top Weight group. Ben Peason, following his win at mansell, has closed him down. Mitchell McLeod remains in 3rd position.
In Cadet Honda a clean sweep of a pole to flag win has promoted David Aulejtner into the lead. Maksymilian Solarski and Colin Wazny chase him in 2nd and 3rd position.
The Two Counties group now move on to the Clay Pigeon Raceway on October 14th for the next round. For more information and up-date on points please view the results page on this website or CLICK HERE

CLEAL IS ‘NUMERO UNO’
11.09.18Anthony Cleal went into the NKRA Grande Finals, in the Formula Blue class, in the second spot behind Duncan McLeod. He was, however, totally dominant on the day winning the Final race from Pole position. This gave him the overall lead in Formula Blue. Such was his speed dominance that he posted the fastest lap in all 4 heats and the Final.
Second overall was Duncan McLeod who went into the Championship with a 1 point lead. Duncan finished 3rd in the Grande Finals which allowed him enough points to finish 2nd overall.
Jake Calvert finished the year in 3rd spot overall after coming 2nd in the Grande Finals
(after countback).
Toby Cook, by virtue of finishing 8th in the Grande finals, was able to move up one place from his pre-race ranking to claim 4th overall.
Russell O’Neill had a fantastic day finishing 4th in the Grande Finals. This result combined with his pre-race points of 7, moved him up to 5th in the Rankings. He and Mitchell McLeod tied for points in the end, but as Russell had beaten Mitch in the Grande Finals he took the place by ‘countback’, therefore Mitch McLeod, in turn, is ranked as 6th overall.
Ben Pearson, although beating Mitch McLeod in the Grande Finals, by virtue of a worse pre-race score he finished directly behind in 7th place.
So we come to the end of a fantastic Championship run, where the front three were separated by only 2 points. Behind these, the next group of four were also only separated by the same margin of two points. At the end, a new champion is crowned – Anthony Cleal.
Congratulations to all the drivers in the Championship, who now have a few weeks for some R & R before the 30th September, when the Two Counties Club Championships recommences.
