NKRA CHAMPIONSHIP ASR

Posted on by Julie

In order to clarify the regulations relating to the measuring of ‘hot’ parts at post-race scrutineering, the NKRA has issued an Additional Supplementary Regulation (No. 1), as follows:

NATIONAL KART RACING ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

NKRA Additional supplementary regulation 1 – 24.6.2025
FORMULA BLUE
If, during the task of scrutineering, an engine or carburettor, that may be affected by heat expansion during competition,  fails measurement requirements, a fixed time period will be allowed before re-measuring.  A second failure, at this point, will result in an exclusion. The fixed time period of 20 minutes,
commences from the time of entry of the race winner into the scrutineering facility. During the time allowance, the part in question must remain in situ with the scrutineer and may not be cooled by any artificial means whatsoever.

READ WINS NKRA ROUND 3 AT WHILTON MILL

Posted on by Julie

Rhys Read, newly registered racer only turned 16 a few days ago, has upped the ‘anti’ at the front of the Formula BLUE Championship. As an ex-Junior BLUE Champion, he was more than capable of putting down fast laps. this he did at Round 3 of the BLUE Challenge at Whilton Mill starting from Pole and securing the win. His Zero points score has leap-frogged him straight into 17th spot in the overall standings. The newly crowned ‘O’ plate Champion, David Watts finished 2nd on the day, consolidating his lead in the championship. The current number 2, Harry Smithson did all he could but couldn’t quite match the pace of the front two. He did, with a 3rd place on the day, reinforce his 2nd overall position in the championship. Dean Smithers scored a creditable 4th place on the day, moving him up to 3rd place in the championship standing, just ahead of Callum Jobson by one point. Alex Fortune, having not opted for new tyres, raced a little off the front group but still managed to round off the top five in the overall standings.
Watts extended his lead at the front of the Masters sub-class with a zero points tally. Smithers finished 2nd on the day and remains in 2nd overall. Fortune, by taking 3rd on the podium moves up to 3rd overall ahead of Stuart Gray and Billy Thomas.
John Hartshorne won the day in the Veteran group moving up to 2nd in the championship behind Gray. Ron Shone, 2nd on the day, moves up to 3rd overall ahead of Nigel Vickery and David Waldron.
Hartshorne also cleaned up in the Legend sub-section, chased home by Shone. Gray continues to sit in the Championship lead with Hartshorne in 2nd, followed by Shone, Graham Joseph and Robin Stoddart-Stones.
Smithers dominated the Top Weight sub-class with a pole and win from Fortune, Shone and Thomas.
