S & B AUTOMOTIVE BLUE CHALLENGE – Round 3 at Clay Pigeon 9th April

Posted on by Julie

Anthony Cleal wins at Clay Pigeon, moving up to 4th overall in the S & B Automotive Academy, Blue Challenge.  It is Ian Branfield who remains the leader after coming 2nd on points on the day.  Kevin Ford had a poor day but still remains in 2nd spot overall.  Duncan McLeod returned to his former self and took the final in style,  maintaining his 3rd overall place.
Despite having a poor day,  Kevin Ford retains the lead in the Blue Master and Veteran sections with Duncan McLeod and Anth Cleal honing in on him in 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
A superb day from Stuart Gray with a pole to flag  win promoted him to series leader in the Legend  group followed by Ron Shone and Graham Dudley.
In the Top Weight section, Ian Branfield maintains his lead followed by Duncan McLeod with Mitchell McLeod in 3rd spot.   The next Challenge round is scheduled for April 23rd although the venue may be re-located.  Confirmation is expected very shortly.

Vaughan & Cleal steal the show at NKRA Round 2 at Clay Pigeon

Posted on by Julie

Charlie Vaughan,  in Cadet Honda, consolidated his lead with a pole to flag win at the Clay Pigeon Raceway in April.  2nd on the day was Maksy Solarski, though it is Ethan Leader who stands in second place to Vaughan in the Southern NKRA Championships.

In Formula Blue it was Anthony Cleal who took the day with a pole and 2nd place finish.  Second, on the day was Ian  Branfield.  It is Branfield, however, who leads the Championship from Cleal,  with Kevin Ford having a poor day by his standards, slipping to 3rd overall.

The next round for the NKRA Regionals is Forest Edge on 7th May.  The Blue Challenge should move to 3 Sisters on April 23rd,  though there is doubt over this round.  Confirmation will be given either way within the next  48  hours.

Carburettor Regulations – Formula Blue

Posted on by Julie

During post-race scrutineering at the race meeting held at Mansell Raceway on the
weekend of 26th March.

Two competitors racing in the Formula Blue Class,   were found to have carburettors which did not comply with the scrutineering criteria.
They were however correctly marked as HL360A , as listed in the regulations.

Subsequent verification from the factory confirmed that these carburettors were from a much earlier production which had a different configuration. The carburettors in question had not been modified and as such were within the regulations as they stood. The only identification difference was the batch number (which is not currently regulated within the rules).

As a consequence and following this advice, the original race result stands.

Moving forward, taking into account the above and in order to maintain a level ‘playing field’ with equal access for all competitors, carburettors ( as supplied for Formula Blue) will now be supplied marked and sequentially numbered.  Although these carbs will be available for immediate use, the requirement for their sole use will not apply until next season.

In the meantime, only batch numbers, as posted on the official webpage,  that have been verified as compliant, will be allowed for competition. This will come into effect on 1st May.

Batch number 005 will not be allowed with immediate effect.
