VESSIER FINALLY ACHIEVES THE WIN THAT HAS ELUDED HIM ALL YEAR.

Taking full advantage of the absolute chaos at the start of the Formula Blue Final at Mansell in October, Sylvian Vessier scores the win that he has strived all year to secure. After 11 laps of intense pressure from Russell O’Neill and Anth Cleal, Vessier took the flag and his first win. The smile, when he took his helmet off, was from ear to ear and deservedly so !
Michael Bell brought home Kieran Quirke, for 4th and 5th with Phil Shears leading Rob Mortimire and Paul Alexander over the line. The returning Martin Wheeler put up a good show, gaining Pole for the Final but suffered a mechanical failure during the race. With one round to go in the Two Counties Championship ( at the Clay Pigeon Raceway on November 14fth) Cleal leads O’Neill in the overall points with Vessier moving up into 3rd place. Bell sits in the 4th spot ahead of Kieron Quirke in 5th.
In the Blue Master group, Cleal and O’Neill share 1st place with Shears in 3rd. It is Cleal, however, who leads the Championship from O’Neill, Paul Alexander, David Good and Rob Mortimore.
Cleal took a clear win in the Blue Veteran sections with Shears 2nd with Goode and Mortimore equal 3rd. The overall lead is still held by Cleal from Alexander, Goode, Mortimore and Steven Groves.
In the Blue Legend sub-class, Goode was well clear with a clean sweep of grid plus finish. He emphatically dismissed the challenges of Ron Shone, Robin Stoddart-Stones and Kevin O’Neill. As a consequence he extends his lead over Shone who sits in 2nd overall a mere 1 point ahead of Stoddart- Stones, who in turn is 1 point ahead of O’Neill. All to play for in the final round to come.
It was Shears, in the Blue Top Weight category, who kept a rejuvenated Mortimore from stealing the show. The point table going into the last round shows Shone and Mortimore equal on points and Shears moving up into 3rd place.
In the newly contested Junior Blue Class, Sam Mitchell took the chequered flag but finished equal 1st with Rhys Read in the day’s overall scoring. Jamie Dart finished 3rd ahead of Madi Staddon. In the championship itself,
Mitchell sits in the lead by only 4 points from Read, with Dart, Hibbard and Carpenter making up the top 5.
The Two Counites Club Championship moves on to Clay Pigeon on the weekend of November 13th / 14th for the Final round which in itself will be quite an achievement considering how the season started with all the Covid restrictions.
