O’NEILL, WALDRON, STODDART-STONES, MORTIMORE & MARSH are the 2 COUNTIES CLUB 2019 CHAMPIONS.
11.11.19Despite atrocious weather conditions on the Saturday and a damp start to Sunday morning, for the most part, the day remained sunny but cold. The racing was fantastic throughout the day with stunningly exciting Finals.
In Formula Blue, the front runner, Russell O’Neill, had a fraught day enduring unresolved electrical problems. Changing his engine for the Final, he started absolute last then charged through the grid setting fastest times in sectors 1 and 3. He reached 4th before throwing a chain. It mattered little as his Championship drop option was good enough to give him the 2019 Club Championship title.
David Watts won the day, with a dominant Pole to Flag win, backing up his earlier, in the year, Grande Final victory. The Second overall place was shared by Taylor Waldron and Mike Bell, although the trophy was won by Waldron by virtue of finishing ahead in the Final. In the 2019 championship, it is Bell who claims the runner-up spot. Behind him, arch-rivals, Robin Stoddart-Stones and Dave Waldron tied for 3rd spot. They both had the same drop option so the decision-making process then selects the 1st round, which was back in March. Waldron hadn’t entered, so 3rd place in the Championship goes to Stoddart-Stones! By coincidence, the exact same situation happened in the Master Championship. Russell O’Neill a clear winner and Stoddart-Stones taking 2nd place from Dave Waldron as Waldron hadn’t entered the 1st round.
Dave Waldron managed to reverse the tables in the Veteran sub-class beating Stoddart-Stones to the title with David Goode claiming 3rd spot overall.
Stoddart-Stones did, however, win the Legend group from Goode and Ron Shone.
In the Top-Weight section , Rob Mortimore managed to hold off the challenge from Shone with novice Mike Watts finishing the year in style to take the 3rd overall Championship place.
In the Cadet HONDA Class, Scott Marsh went into the last race day with a slender 1 point lead over Charles Green and Hugh Moulton. He, despite sharing the day with Moulton, maintained that 1 point gap and wins the Championship with Moulton 2nd and Green 3rd.
With the 2019 Championship now over, all that is left this year is the presentation Dinner and Dance to be held in 2 weeks ( to which winners must be in attendance). See you all then!

O’Neill moves clear of Bell in Formula Blue and Marsh takes the lead in Cadet Honda.
28.10.19In the penultimate round of the Two Counties Club champs, a stunning result by Russell O’Neill to finish 2nd overall, behind Stuart Gray, allowed him to forge ahead of Mike Bell. Bell spent much of the day chasing an electrical problem, which he was unable to solve. 3rd on the day was Robin Stoddart-Stones, who used this performance to close in on Bell to where they are now both on equal points in the Championship, with one round to go! In the Cadet HONDA class, a pole to flag win for Scott Marsh puts him into a slender lead ahead of Charles Green and Hugh Moulton, who share overall 2nd, a mere 1 point behind.
O’Neill is also well clear in the Master sub-group. The main battle here, before the last round, is between Stoddart-Stones and David Waldron in 2nd & 3rd places respectively.
In the Veteran section, all eyes are on Stoddart-Stones, who by finishing 2nd overall on the day behind Gray, wrestled the overall lead away from Waldron. David Goode sits in 3rd position overall.
Stoddart-Stones also has his sights on the Legend sub-class, where he has a lead over Goode and Ron Shone.
In the Top Weight group, it is Rob Mortimore, who having recovered well in the Final, prevented Shone from making any inroads into his lead. Mike Watts, by finishing 3rd, maintains his 3rd position in the Championship.
The final round takes place at Clay Pigeon on November 10th.
