ROSS, BRANFIELD, McCLOUD & SHONE Win their classes in the NKRA Southern Champs
02.08.17In a rain affected, end of July weekend at Mansell Raceway in sunny ( ?) Devon, the NKRA Southern Championships came to a close.
In Cadet Honda, Ameron Ross finished 3rd overall but in the process snatched the overall title from Ethan Leader.
Ian Branfield, in Formula Blue, went into the final round with a 12 point lead and very nearly threw it away by virtue of a wrong tyre choice in one of the heats ! He kept it together in the final race finishing 4th and winning overall by 2 points.
It was Duncan McLeod who won the day with a masterly display of racing taking both pole position and win in the Final. Second on the day was local boy Ryan Edgecumbe who, as a consequence, jumped from 8th to 3rd in the Championship. Having transferred from Max 177, Edgcumbe gradually adjusted to the more challenging grid in Formula Blue and has improved race by race!
In the sub-suctions of the Formula Blue class, Duncan McLeod cleaned up in the Master and Veteran

Duncan McLeod wins final 2017 S & B Automotive Academy Round at Mansell Raceway
01.08.17The final round of the S & B Automotive Academy Formula Blue Challenge took place at Mansell Raceway under the most challenging of weather conditions. With little more than a few minutes notice rain either fell in torrents or held off. this continued all through the race day, catching quite a few out on the wrong tyres.
The Final became a dominant display by pole man Duncan McLeod with Ryan Edgecumbe in close attendance. Mitchell McLeod, continuing his recent impressive form took 3rd place. It was, however, Ian Branfield who did enough in 4th overall to claim the Series title. Duncan McLeod also dominated in the Master and Veteran groups with Kevin Ford and Ron Shone filling the rest of the Series podium.
Despite an incident during the heats, Shone kept it together to take the Legend section from Graham Dudley and Kevin O’Neill.
The remaining sub-class title, the Top Weights, was held by Ian Branfield with the father and son duo McLeod snapping at his heals.
With the S & B Automotive Academy Formula Blue Challenge now completed, all attention is turned to the Mansell Raceway at the end of August for the NKRA Grande Finals on 26th and 27th of August.
