Charlie Vaughan, Ian Branfield, Kevin Ford, Ron Shone &  Paul Spiller win at the opening round of the Southern NKRA and S & B Automotive Academy Championship on 26th March at Mansell Raceway. 

Charlie Vaughan with a front row start and 2nd place finish takes the lead in Cadet Honda. Ethan Leader finished second overall.
In Formula Blue, Ian Branfiled claimed the second win in a row in the S & B Automotive Academy Championship.   Second place was Kevin ford having survived a carburettor eligibility scare, third was Mitchell McLeod. 
Kevin Ford also claimed wins in the Blue Master and Veteran section.  Duncan McLeod finished 2nd in both of these groups. Ron Shone took the Blue Legend section from David Goode. The Blue Top Weight results doubled up on the open one with Ian Branfield  taking the day from Mitchell McLeod.
Jim Bee claimed an unopposed win in the Rotax Max Class. 
The Championship moves on to Clay Pigeon on 9th April for the first scoring round of the Southern NKRA Champs and round three of the S & B Automotive Academy Championship.

Drivers competing in Round 3 of the S & B Automotive Academy Blue Challenge  are reminded,
that there is only  1 day   until the entry closing date. This 3rd round is  scheduled for 9th April at Clay Pigeon Raceway.     Entries are available on-line  at

 Entries may still be accepted after the closing date, but will start from the back of the grid.

Regulations for Formula Blue as listed in the accompanying Guidelines and interpretations document has been updated to verify carburettor batches, which will, forthwith, be acceptable to use in Formula Blue and Junior Blue.

Tabor Karting will be in attendance, as usual,  at the Mansell Raceway,  with their mobile shop for the race meeting on 25th & 26th March, which includes the NKRA Southern round 1 and the S & B Automotive Academy Blue Challenge, Round 2.   Whereas Tabor Karting carry a reasonable amount of spares for all the classes, on the race weekend, they obviously can not plan for every eventuality.
If any competitors require specific spare parts or tyres , please order your requirements in advance ( Tel 01305 774074)  by 1pm Thursday 23rd March,  for collection at the circuit on the race weekend.

In a day of mixed weather conditions, Ian Branfield swept all before him taking pole position and then winning by 4 seconds.  Kevin ford claimed 2nd overall with Duncan McLeod 3rd.  Branfield, by virtue of this stunning series opener,  also took the lead in the Top Weight sections with D. McLeod taking up 2nd spot and Mitch McLeod 3rd.   Ford heads up the Master and Veteran sub-groups with D. McLeod 2nd in both.  Rob Mortimore finished 3rd overall in the Master group with Graham Dudley 3rd in the Veterans. It is G. Dudley, however, who claims the lead in the Legend Category with Stuart Gray and Kevin O’Neill 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The Challenge now moves on to Mansell Raceway in Devon for round two, on the 26th March.

The opening round of the S & B Automotive Academy is scheduled for March 12th at Clay Pigeon Raceway. Competing Drivers are reminded that they need to be a member of the NKRA. Registration forms, for those not yet registered are available by downloading a form from this website, in the NKRA section, or click here for the form.  The complete list of  registered drivers will be submitted,  as per. usual,  to the host club 3 days before the race weekend.  Drivers not on  this list may be charged full non-members entrance fee !
