FORMULA BLUE ENGINE LEGALITY !

Posted on by Julie

Tabor advise that,  following certain recent issues, there may be engines in circulation (Country wise)  that are not MSA race legal.  these engines emanate from regions of the UK. where the strict ‘Box Stock’ and ‘No Modification’  regulations are not necessarily applied or checked. It is strongly advised that for anyone purchasing a used engine, that it is  first checked and verified ‘ by TABOR’  ( the engine importer and class regulator).
All engines and Key component parts are sequentially marked and their sale is recorded.  This goes a long way to ensuring ( along with strict scrutineering)  that competitors are competing on an equal ‘playing field’ !
Please note that Maxi engine identification numbers used for MSA racing start with the prefix M and Leopard engines with the prefix L.  Engine identification numbers are then cross-referenced with the crank case numbers along with the recorded sale details.
Any competitor purchasing an engine (new or used)  not originally sold to them by the importer ( TABOR )  should inform TABOR  of the following sequential numbers as marked on each part :  Engine,  Crank case, Cylinder , Piston, ignition ( ensure that the rotor and stator are matched numbers), Clutch, and Clutch drum.
Failure to notify these numbers, prior to racing,  could result in exclusion at MSA race meetings.  Please refer to regulation  JB1.4  /  FB 1.4
N.B.  Competitors purchasing replacement parts,  throughout the racing season automatically have these numbers recorded at the time of purchase.

Posted on by Julie

The McLeod family cleaned up in the Final Branfield & Sons Builders, Two Counties Club Champs at Clay Pigeon, on November 13th.
Front runner and father Duncan McLeod won the day in the 2CKC Formula Blue Final and by virtue of his pole position secured the necessary points to win the prestigious Matthew Percy Memorial trophy.  Duncan’s son Mitchell took 4th overall on the day and joined him on the podium.  Not to be left out,  his daughter Hannah was awarded the best novice trophy !
Anthony Cleal,   2nd on the day but 1st over the line in the Final, cemented his lead in the Club Championships with D. McLeod finishing the year in 2nd and Luke Lattimer in 3rd.   In the Blue Master section,  it is Cleal from McLeod again but with David Goode taking 3rd spot.  In the Blue Veterans group,  McLeod moves up to be Champion followed by David Goode and Rob Mortimore.  Following his stormy year,  Goode became the Blue Legend Championship winner from Ron Shone and Kevin O’Neill.   The last of the sub -group, namely Blue Top Weight,  had Cleal as Champion with a McLeod 2nd and 3rd.

The Cadet class in the Branfield & Sons Builders 2CKC Championship was won by Cameron Ross followed by Thomas Cucurello-Yeomans and Zak Styler in 3rd.

Junior Blue finished the year with an emphatic win for Jake Calvert from Taylor Waldron in the Junior Blue Class.  Jake Calvert took the prestigious  Junior Blue  ‘Matthew Percy’ trophy on the day.

Josh Cook, British Touring Car Driver, guests in Formula Blue at Mansell Raceway

Posted on by Julie

Josh Cook, leading M.G. driver in the British Touring Car Championship, guest drives in Formula Blue at the penultimate Branfield & Sons sponsored, 2 Counties Championship round, at Mansell raceway, Devon,  on Oct 30th.

Having won the first heat, Cook qualified 7th on the grid for the Final despite having suffered a DNF in heat 3 with a “noisy”  broken exhaust manifold.  Unfortunately, he had insufficient time to “bed” in the gasket on the replacement part prior to the Final. Despite reaching 4th after the opening lap,  he was forced to retire the following lap, as the noise became exessive, he was given a black flag and waved into the pits by the Clerk of Course.   Meanwhile, it was Anthony Cleal and Duncan McLeod who shared the day at the penultimate round of the Club Championship.  It is Cleal, however, who forges ahead in the overall lead, helped by the absence of Martin Wheeler, his previous main rival for the Championship.  It is McLeod who now takes on the mantle !

Positions in the Club Championship for the Blue Masters group remain unchanged with Cleal ahead of McLeod and Kevin Ford.

Minimum points for McLeod allow him to reinforce his lead in the Blue Veteran section with Ford and David Goode next in line.
Goode and Ron Shone shared the points in the Blue Legend sub-class, although it is Goode who leads Shone with Kevin O’Neill chasing in 3rd place.

Cleal also heads the Blue Top Weight class, followed by McLeod. 3rd place is held by Duncan McLeod’s son Mitch, keeping it in the family.

In the Cadet Honda class a clean sweet on the day left Cameron Ross clear in the lead. Zak Styler, although 2nd on the day remains 3rd overall.

The Branfield & Sons sponsored 2 Counties Championship now moves to Clay Pigeon, in Dorset, on 13th November for the Final Round.
In with this round is also the Matthew Percy Memorial race, one of the most coveted trophy events in the Junior & Formula Blue calendar.
