Tabor Karting will be in attendance, as usual, at the Clay Pigeon Raceway on 12th ,13th & 14th May which includes the Wessex Championship and also the 2 Counties 2023 Championship Round 1, for Cadet HONDA , Junior BLUE and Formula BLUE.

SMITHSON RECOVERS TO TAKE THE LEAD IN THE NKRA FORMULA BLUE CHAMPIONSHIP

Round 4 of the NKRA BLUE CHALLENGE took place on April 30th at Mansell Raceway in Devon. The forecast showed rain all Sunday and certainly, the 1st head was wet. Thereafter, the day dried up and although rain sometimes threatened it never appeared!
Devon Giles scored another uncontested victory in Cadet HONDA.
Junior BLUE is gradually recovering from the issues which did the grid so much damage at the end of 2022. Another novice, Jack Gillitt, joined the grid for the first time and enjoyed his day, getting better and better with each outing. Alfie Lenton and Rudie Winslow-Morten shared the win on points though it was Lenton who claimed the Final, with Winslow-Mortone a mere 0.13 behind at the flag. Lenton maintains his lead in the Challenge from Winslow -Morten.
In the Formula BLUE class it was, returnee from injury, Joey Foster who won the day on 2 points with an opposite pole and Final win. Second overall was Paul Alexander with 6 points, who scored 3rd position on both the Final Grid and the Final race. Third overall was Anthony Cleal on 7 points with a pole and 7th place finish in the Final. In the Championship placings, it is Harry Smithson who takes over the lead with 19 points, by the smallest of margins ( 1 point) from Cleal. Third in the Championship is Mike Bell ahead of David Waldron and Alex Kemp.
In the Master sub-class, Foster wins the day with 2 points, just ahead of Cleal with 3 points. Alexander, on 5 points finishes 3rd. Cleal leads the standing from Waldron, Kemp, Alexander and Steve Groves.
Cleal and Alexander share the win in the Veteran sub-group with 2 points apiece. Rob Mortimore coming in 3rd with 7 points. In the overall position, Cleal maintains the leads from Waldron, Alexander, Groves and Mortimore.
Chris Underhill, with 3 points, takes the day in the Legend section with John Hartshorne in second with 5 points. Ron Shone and Robin Stoddart-Stones are equal third on 6 points. Hartshorne now takes the Championship Lead on 13 points followed by Shone on 16 points. Stoddart-Stones sits in 3rd place with Stuart Gray and Underhill in 4th and 5th position.
Paul Alexander wins the Top Weight section with a 0-point clean sweep from Mortimore with 4 points and Shone with 6 points. Overall, it is Waldron, using up his drop option, in the lead on 4 points from Mortimore on 15 points and Shone on 21 points. 4th and 5th positions are filled by Alexander and Tom Parker.
The NKRA Championship now takes a well-earned break until June 11th at Lydd Circuit in Kent. Many of the BLUE competitors will, however, continue their racing year with the Two Counties Club Championship opening round at the Clay Pigeon Raceway on May 14th.

FOSTER RECOVERS FROM INJURY TO WIN AT MANSELL

Joey Foster recovers from previous injuries to win the Mansell round of the TABOR CHAMPIONSHIP. It is Anthony Cleal, however, who maintains the overall lead from Alex Kemp and Rob Mortimore, with Foster rising up to 4th from 6th.
The next scoring round is at Clay Pigeon on the 13th and 14th of May, for the Wessex Championship and Round 1 of the Two Counties Club Championship.

ENTRIES FOR CLAY PIGEON ON 13th & 14th MAY 2023

Competitors are advised that entries are now open for the OPENING ROUND OF THE 2 COUNTIES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP and THE WESSEX CHAMPIONSHIP on May 13th & 14th at the Clay Pigeon Raceway. There will be practice for those who wish, on Friday 12th May. The Saturday & Sunday races can be entered on the Clay Pigeon Kart Club website link. The link for entries is also at the foot of this news brief.
The entry list for Junior & Formula Blue will close at midnight, on Saturday 6th May. Late entries may be accepted, however, they will be placed on the back of the grid for all heats.

NKRA BLUE CHALLENGE ROUND 3 RESULTS FROM LYDD

A returning Rudie Winslow-Morten won round 3 of the NKRA Junior BLUE Challenge at Lydd. His pole and win in the Final gave him both the round win plus the Junior Blue ‘O’ plate. Second, on the day but still retaining the overall series lead was Alfie Lenton.

In the formula BLUE class, the day goes to Dave Watts with a Pole position and 2nd place in the Final. He also retains the ‘O’ plate title! The actual Final winner was Stuart Gray, who finished 2nd overall due to his 3rd place start grid. Last month’s first-round winner, Harry Smithson, finished 3rd overall with 5 points and the current number one driver, Anthony Cleal, finished 4th with 8 points. Gray claimed the Master, Veteran and Legend sub-section ‘O’ plates, with Dave Waldron taking the Top Weight ‘o’ plate trophy.

The Championship now moves on to Mansell Raceway, in Devon, for Round 4 at the end of April.

CLEAL, KEMP & MORTIMORE forge forwards in the Tabor Champs

Anthony Cleal, Alex Kemp and Rob Mortimore forge forwards in the TABOR Championship by scoring the top three sets of points available at the Lydd International Raceway in Kent.
The next scoring round is at Mansell Raceway on 30th April.

TABOR ENGINEERING SPRING CLOSURE DATES

TABOR KARTING has advised that their engine department will be closed from Wednesday 12th April until Tuesday 25th April. Drivers requiring engine re-builds etc. will need to present their engines prior to 12th April in order to ensure that the work can be undertaken by the NKRA round 4 at Mansell Raceway. The Tabor parts department will remain open to send out spare parts, etc. until  Monday 17th April and they will also open on 25th April.
Drivers have the option to hand their engines to TABOR at the Lydd race meeting, following the conclusion of the ‘o’ plate championships.

NKRA CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 2 AT MANSELL

Devon Giles continues in the lead of the Cadet Hondas with a clean sweep result.
Alfie Lenton, much improved since Lydd, also achieved a minimum score and remains firmly in control

In the Formula BLUE class, David Watts showed a clean pair of heels to the chasing pack, scoring zero points. Second on the day was Stuart Gray, just edging Anthony Cleal, by virtue of his Final finish position, as both had scored 5 points. Kevin Ford returning after a shoulder operation, claimed 4th overall with David Waldron taking 5th. In the series’ standings, Smithson and Watts share the lead with Cleal in 3rd, Tom Parker in 4th and Stuart Gray in 5th.
Gray and Cleal shared the top points in the Master section, with Ford finishing 3rd, Waldron 4th and Nigel Vickery sharing 5th with Steve Groves. Overall it is Cleal in the lead, by virtue of a better drop option, from Joey Foster. Gray takes up 3rd place from Waldron with Vickery in 5th.
In the veteran sub-group, it is Gray and Cleal who, once again, share the win on the day with 2 points each with Ford finishing 3rd, Waldron 4th and Groves 5th.
Gray takes the Legend win with a zero-points clean sweep. Behind him was Ford, followed by John Hartshorne, Chris Underhill and David Goode.
In the Top Weight section, Waldron maximised his efforts on the day by winning from Rob Mortimore, Tom Parker and Ron shone. Waldron also takes the Championship lead in this section, with Parker 2nd, Mortimore 3rd and Ron shone 4th.
In a hectic start to the Championship, the drivers have a mere two weeks before they head back to the Lydd International circuit for round three. This event will be spiced up by the addition of a combined ‘0’ plate event for the Formula BLUE sections of the class.

TYRES & SPARES FOR LYDD ON THE 7th, 8th & 9th OF APRIL
