TABOR – Engine Preparation

Posted on by Julie

TABOR KARTING advises that although the parts department is now open for spares etc., the engine department will close from January 18th until March 1st. Following our post in November, most drivers requiring engine rebuilds had them completed before the December closedown.
There is now a very small window before January 18th to cover any emergency work if required. In this case, please contact TABOR urgently to arrange an engine drop off.
Following this, there will be a 9 day lead-in to the first NKRA regional round at Lydd on March 12th. Should anyone require any work to be completed in this period, please contact TABOR to schedule in.

MATTHEW PERCY MEMORIAL TROPHY RACES & RESULTS – READ & GRAY ARE THE 2022 WINNERS

Posted on by Julie

Rhys Read in the Junior Blue class dominated proceedings, especially the Final, where despite having to start in 2nd place at the back of a mixed ( with a mini-max) grid, pressed forwards to win the Junior Blue Percy Trophy Race. A DNF in heat 2 ( pedal issue) nearly cost him the overall Junior Blue ‘Percy’ trophy.
Mitch Carpenter, in his last race as a Junior before moving up into the Senior Blue grid, gave Read a run for his money, finishing the day on equal points, only losing out by the eventual track position.

A full grid of Formula Blue drivers were present at the Clay Pigeon Circuit for the annual Matthew Percy Memorial Race on 13th November 2022. The race involved the 2 Counites Club members who had competed in a minimum of 1 previous Club round. Scoring included grid start plus finish positions, once any non-eligible competitors had been deleted from the result.
The Pole position for the Final was held by returnee to Formula Blue, Kevin Ford, with Anthony Cleal alongside on position 2. On the second row sat Stuart Gray and Joey Foster.
In the race, a determined Gray forged to the front. It was a position he held to the end, with Foster a couple of seconds behind in 2nd place. Cleal, driving one-handed whilst operating a broken throttle cable, finished in 3rd place. In 4th was Kevin Ford still nursing a previous shoulder injury. Mike Bell finished in 5th position.
With the points now added together, Stuart Gray ( 3 + 0 = 3 points) becomes the Winner and Kevin Ford (0 + 4 = 4 points) Runner-up. Anthony Cleal finishes 3rd on 5 points ( 2 + 3 = 5 points) and Joey Foster on 4th with 6 points ( 4 + 2 = 6 points)
