BELL BLASTS THE BLUES

Posted on by Julie

In the race of his life, to date, Mike Bell had a stunning weekend, having spent the Saturday at Forest Edge running-in a rebuilt engine and sorting out an electrical problem on his kart it all came together on the Sunday.
He qualified on Pole, won the Final and achieved the fastest lap. It doesn’t get any better ! Russell O’Neill was the only driver capable of staying with him although David Waldron showed flashes throughout the day and finished 3rd in the Final. David Goode, having won his first heat in years, pressed hard in the Final to finish in 4th place ahead of Serita Shone. In the overall standings, Bell now takes the Championship lead from Anthony Cleal, who didn’t race at this event. Russell O’Neill takes up 3rd place from David Waldron. It was O’Neill who took 1st spot in the Master section from Waldron with Goode coming in 3rd. O’Neill now leads from Cleal and Waldron.

David Waldron, in turn, won the Veteran sub-group, with David Goode finishing in 2nd place ahead of Rob Mortimore. The overall standings show Waldron promoted to equal 1st, sharing top spot with Cleal. Goode moves up to 3rd.
In the Legend sub-class, it was Goode who took the win from Ron Shone with Kevin O’Neill in 3rd place. This win promotes Goode to Championship lead from Robin Stoddart-Stones, who wasn’t present and as a consequence slips to 2nd with Ron Shone in 3rd.

Rob Mortimore won in the Top Weight section from Shone and consequently, he moves up a spot to equal 1st in the Championship.

Competitors now have a rest in the 2 Counties Championship until 8th September, when they will contest Round 3 on the 8th September at the Clay Pigeon Circuit.

TAYLOR TOPS THE PODIUM AT NKRA CHAMPS ROUND 3

Posted on by Julie

Taylor Waldron wins Round 3 of the NKRA Championship at Clay Pigeon. The win, however, was not without a little controversy over an ‘exuberant’ overtaking move. His victory, with a 2 point score, shoots him up the charts into 2nd place overall. Anthony Cleal, who won the actual Final finished 2nd on the day with 5 points, which was enough to maintain his overall lead in the Championships. The other noticeable performance came from Taylor’s father, Dave, who finished 6th on the track but 5th overall. His stunning performance rockets him up from 13th in the Championship ranking to 8th place, only 10 points behind his son in 2nd place.

The Championship returns to the Clay Pigeon Circuit on 14th July for Round 4

WALDRON WINS AT CLAY

Posted on by Julie

Taylor Waldron comes of age and takes the overall win in Round 6 of the Blue Challenge at the Clay Pigeon. He was, however, fortunate not to be penalised for an impetuous move on David Watts in the final which ended up with the retirement of Watts in the final, with a dislodged exhaust. Waldron scored only 2 points from a pole and a second-place result. Second was Anthony Cleal who actually won the Final but it was from a start position of fifth. Ben Pearson, the current ‘0’ plate Champion, came home 4th in the Final. The points, when totaled to the running scores keep Anthon Cleal in the overall lead from Pearson. Waldron moves up to 4th in the Championship.
It was Cleal who claimed first over-all in the Blue Master sections.
Again, in the Veteran sub-group, Cleal maintains his Series lead by winning the day. Continuing with his stunning form, David Waldron, finished 3rd on the day, thereby promoting him to 3rd in the overall points.
In the Legend sub-class, Robin Stoddart-Stones claimed the day’s win with 3 points with Kevin O’Neill and Ron Shone sharing 2nd place. Stoddart-Stones continues in the overall lead.
Duncan McLeod won the Top Weight section, maintaining his overall lead in this group.
Competitors now have a 4-week break before the next round at Clay Pigeon in July.
