McLeod front row ‘lock-out’ at Rissington, for the S & B Automotive Academy Formula Blue Challenge on June 25th

Posted on by Julie

The father and son pair of Duncan and Mitchell McLeod took over the front of the grid in the S & B Automotive Blue Challenge Round 8 at Little Rissington on June 25th.
From grid two Mitch drove into an unassailable lead to give him the overall victory on the day. Dad Duncan finished third,  which combined with his pole position gave him 2nd overall on points.  Second on the track and 3rd overall was Series leader  Ian Branfield, followed by Jake Calvert and Scott Lattimer.  It is, however,  Kevin Ford who holds on to third place in the series.
The dominant performance by Duncan McLeod allowed him to increase his lead over Ford and Ron Shone in the Master and Veteran sections.
Shone,  in turn,  stays clear of Graham Dudley and Kevin O’Neill in the Legend group.
In the Top Weight sub-class,  McLeod’s result made a small dent into the lead of Ian Branfield, but not enough to make a difference.  With one round to go,  Branfield heads the group with a 22 point lead.
The Final Series round moves on to Mansell Raceway on July 30th.

Branfield takes the win in S & B Automotive Academy Challenge, after McLeod suffers brake failure

Posted on by Julie

Duncan McLeod led until the last few laps of the Final at Clay Pigeon,  until an exploding brake disc sidelined him, allowing series leader Ian Branfield to take the overall win.  Kevin Ford dropped a place in the Final to finish 4th but claimed 2nd overall, a marked improvement from his previous result at Mansell.   Taylor Waldron, fresh up from Junior Blue, finished 3rd on the track and 3rd overall.
Kevin Ford, with a front row grid position and a 2nd position finish, took the overall win in the Blue Master section,  sharing the result with Anth Cleal, both with 4 points.  Third overall was Ron shone on 6 points.
Ford also shared with Cleal the overall victory in the Blue Veteran group.  Shone,  again finishing 3rd overall.
It was however,  Shone’s day in the Blue Legend section with a lights to flag win. Behind, Graham Dudley and Robin Stoddart-Stones shared 5 points apiece.
Branfield took full advantage of  McLeod’s brake failure to move further ahead in the Blue Top Weight sub-class.  Equal 2nd on the day were  Mitch McLeod and Cleal.

The next round of the S & B Automotive Challenge moves on to Little Rissington on June 25th for the penultimate round.  For more information and points update please go to the results page on this website or

S & B Automotive Academy Blue Challenge Round 6 at Mansell Raceway on 28th May

Posted on by Julie

The largest Formula Blue entry, this year, heralded the return of the S & B Automotive Academy Blue Challenge after the enforced layoff due to the cancellation of Forest Edge and Rye House.  Mansell Raceway, at the end of May, saw business as usual with Ian Branfield and Duncan McLeod extending the lead at the front of the Challenge field.  Third place overall, on the day, has allowed Ryan Edgecumbe to move up into 4th spot in the Challenge where he now has his sights set on Kevin Ford who is currently in 3rd position.
McLeod took the Master and the Veteran sections with Stuart Gray, the only one offering any form of competition.  McLeod, as a consequence, extends his Series lead with Kevin Ford in 2nd overall and Ron Shone in 3rd.
It is Shone, however, who continues to head the Legend group from Graham Dudley and Kevin O’Neill.
In the Top Weight sub-class,   Ian Branfield marginally extends his lead over Duncan McLeod, with so Mitchell McLoed chasing hard in 3rd spot.
The S & B Automotive Academy Formula Blue Challenge moves on to the Clay Pigeon Circuit for round 7 of the Challenge on the 11th June.
