FORMULA BLUE ENGINE LEGALITY !
10.12.16Tabor advise that, following certain recent issues, there may be engines in circulation (Country wise) that are not MSA race legal. these engines emanate from regions of the UK. where the strict ‘Box Stock’ and ‘No Modification’ regulations are not necessarily applied or checked. It is strongly advised that for anyone purchasing a used engine, that it is first checked and verified ‘ by TABOR’ ( the engine importer and class regulator).
All engines and Key component parts are sequentially marked and their sale is recorded. This goes a long way to ensuring ( along with strict scrutineering) that competitors are competing on an equal ‘playing field’ !
Please note that Maxi engine identification numbers used for MSA racing start with the prefix M and Leopard engines with the prefix L. Engine identification numbers are then cross-referenced with the crank case numbers along with the recorded sale details.
Any competitor purchasing an engine (new or used) not originally sold to them by the importer ( TABOR ) should inform TABOR of the following sequential numbers as marked on each part : Engine, Crank case, Cylinder , Piston, ignition ( ensure that the rotor and stator are matched numbers), Clutch, and Clutch drum.
Failure to notify these numbers, prior to racing, could result in exclusion at MSA race meetings. Please refer to regulation JB1.4 / FB 1.4
N.B. Competitors purchasing replacement parts, throughout the racing season automatically have these numbers recorded at the time of purchase.
