Two Counties Club Championships decided for 2017

Joshua Whittington-Couch, Duncan McLeod and Ron Shone win the various classes and sub-groups that have been competed for within the Two Counties Club Championships.
In the Cadet Honda class, Charlie  Vaughan and Joshua Whittington-Couch went into the last round at Clay Pigeon on November 12th dead level on points.  Neither had a drop option available so the Championship would be decided on that day.  Although Vaughan qualified in Pole position, with Whittington-Couch alongside it was Whittington-Couch who scored the win with Vaughan coming in 3rd, thereby giving the overall result to Whittington-Couch.
In the Formula Blue class, Duncan McLeod went into the last round with a 10 point lead over jake Calvert ( in his first year as a Senior driver).  However, things didn’t go completely to plan.  Following a break failure in heat 3, McLeod found himself on grid 5 for the start of the Final, whilst Calvert had secured Pole position.  By the end of lap 1,  Calvert had been deposed by Anth Cleal and Martin Wheeler.  The next move happened on lap 5 when Mitch McLeod, Calvert, and Duncan McLeod forced past Wheeler. Then on lap 7,  Duncan McLeod went past Calvert.  Next lap and Calvert pulled into the pits only to re-appear a lap later.  In the meantime, Cleal robustly held on to the lead until lap 12 when pressure from the McLeod son and father duo paid off and they were through.  Thus, Duncan , in 2nd place over the line, claimed a hard-fought Championship Win.  Mitch,  by virtue of the day’s win, snatched 2nd place in the Championship from Calvert who finished in 3rd Place overall.
Duncan, however, wasn’t finished there.  He finalised the season’s racing by taking the, Master, Veteran and Top Weight groups as well. In the Master and Veteran sections, David Goode and Ron shone came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.  It was Shone who, by virtue of a better qualifying place, claimed the Legend section despite David Goode finishing ahead of him in the Final.
In the Top Weight sub-class it was Mitch McLeod and Jake Calvert who ended the year in 2nd and 3rd respectively.   For details and full results please CLICK HERE
