JOBSON WINS THE DAY, ON POINTS, AT FULBECK

A very chilly but dry weekend greeted the NKRA racers as they prepared for and raced in Round 2 of the National Kart Racing Association Championship. Hardly any drivers had been to Fulbeck before, so times tumbled as they dialed in the track!
Devon Giles continued where he left off last year by taking the lead in the Cadet Honda Class.
Alfie Lenton took full advantage of Jacob Felton’s carburettor issues, scoring a pole and win, to level their positions at the top of Junior Blue.
Revelation of the day in the Formula Blue class was Cullum Jobson who won the weekend on points with a pole and 3rd place in the Final. 2nd on the day was Stuart Gray with 5 points and Harry Smithson third scoring 6 points. The actual Final was won by Joey Foster from an 11th start grid. In the Championship lead, both Anthony Cleal and James Dawings endured issues but remain in the top two slots by virtue of using their drop options. Jobson moves up to 3rd overall from 7th. Gray follows him up the leader board going from 13th to 4th. Smithson brings up the top five only one point behind.
Gray wins the Master sub-section followed by Steve Groves and Foster. It is Cleal, however, who retains the overall lead from Dawkins, then Gray, Foster and Rich Puddle.
Gray dominated the veteran sub-class with a clean Zero points score. Groves finished in 2nd with six points followed by Cleal and Rob Mortimore, one point adrift and Dave Waldron took 5th place. Cleal heads the overall list, with Gray in 2nd spot, Groves 3rd, Mortimore 4th and Waldron 5th.
It was another clean sweep for Gray in the Legends group, this time followed by Ron Shone and Graham Joseph. Gray, as a consequence, moves into the Championship lead with Robin Stoddart-Stones in 2nd place. Shone, David Goode and Graham Joseph bring up the top five.
The top two in the Top Weight sub-class, Alex Fortune and Rob Mortimore share the day with 3 points a-piece. Stuart Adam finishes 3rd with Shone and Paul Alexander in 4th and 5th. In the overall standings Alex Fortune holds the lead by three points from Mortimore with Adams only one one point behind. Shone and Phil Shears complete the top five.
Racers now have two weeks to sort and prepare for Round 3, at the Lydd International Circuit, which includes the ‘0’ plate for all the Formula BLUE Classes.
